Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of teaching Maritime English to future seafarers by the use of new technologies. The article considers the relevance of this problem and the effectiveness of the use of Internet resources in the acquisition of Maritime English by students. Modern rapid development of information and communication technologies gives teachers a unique opportunity to expand their arsenal of methods, forms and means of teaching, traditionally used in pedagogy. The article describes and gives examples of the use of Internet resources and information technologies (from software originally designed for educational purposes to those created only for professional needs), which are effectively implemented in Maritime English classes: Moodle learning management system, online services Learning Apps and Kahoot, which allow teacher to create interactive exercises and quizzes, flipped learning, interactive whiteboards, cell phones, clickers, some professional websites (Passage Weather, Marine Traffic). The choice of tools and methods for inclusion in the learning process depends on the creativity and flexibility of the teacher, as well as the willingness of students to take responsibility for their own learning. It was found that the use of online resources in practical lessons in Maritime English promotes the implementation of active methods and creative approaches. The author's online course "Marine English" on the Moodle platform was developed using Internet resources to improve the professional communication skills of future seafarers. The capabilities of the Moodle platform greatly facilitate the routine work of the teacher in checking tests, exams and many other tasks that are administrative in nature. The results of the study show that Internet resources and information technologies significantly expand the potential of educational material, contribute to the development of student motivation and differentiation of methods, forms and means of learning, taking into account the individual characteristics of students. The condition for effective work of a modern teacher is the use of Internet resources and information technologies in combination with traditional teaching methods, which improves the quality of students' assimilation of new material, developing their ability to think critically and to solve complex problems.
