MANAGEMENT STYLES OF MANAGERS OF EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS (IN THE CONTEXT OF ATTITUDE TOWARDS CHANGE): RELATIONSHIP WITH MESO- AND MICRO-LEVEL FACTORS

Abstract

Management in the context of innovative changes in educational organizations requires the need to rethink the management style of the education manager, in particular, to study the relationship with the factors of meso- and micro-levels. The connection between the types of managers of educational organizations (in the context of attitude to change) and organizational-functional, organizationalprofessional and socio-demographic factors is empirically investigated. There are three types of managers of educational organizations (in the context of attitudes to change): “Traditionalist”, “Realist”, “Freethinker”. It is stated that managers who belong to the types of “Realist” and “Free-thinker” use innovative management styles, and managers who belong to the type of “Traditionalist” use traditional management styles (in the context of attitude to change). Among the managers of educational organizations are insufficiently represented those who use innovative management styles (in the context of attitude to change). The influence of the factor “term of existence of the educational organization” on the expressiveness of educational managers of the type “Free thinker” who use innovative management styles is established. Did not show a statically significant relationship with such characteristics of the organization as “type of educational institution”, “location of the organization”, “number of people working in the organization”, “number of children studying in the institution”, “status of the organization in education system of the city (region)”. There are statistically significant relationships between the types of managers of educational organizations (in the context of attitudes to change) and organizational, professional and socio-demographic factors related to the micro level: position, level of education, gender, presence of children. There was no statistically significant relationship between the types of managers of educational organizations (in the context of attitudes to change) and such organizational and professional characteristics as “type of education”, “length of service”, “length of service”, “qualification category”, and “Pedagogical title”, as well as socio-demographic factors (age, marital status) of education managers. Taking into account the identified patterns can contribute to the psychological support of the development of innovative management styles in education managers.
